International youth projects
Neeje's work with youth has taken an international
dimension on various occasions. Our Association has sponsored
youth involved with special projects such as:
UNIV International
Congress
UNIV is held annually in Rome during Holy Week. This event gathers university
students from around the globe to discuss issues relevant to their experiences
on campus and to their upcoming professional life. It also gives them an opportunity
to spend this most meaningful time of the liturgical year in the heart of Christianity.
Students attending activities or residing at Valrideau University Residence
have taken part in this congress on several occasions since the 1990s and have
drawn from it deep insights into their faith and their future role as academics
and professional women.

World Youth Day
Now a tradition for Catholic and all Youth, World Youth Days have been attracting
Canadians since their inception in the 1980's. Neeje has encouraged youth
to respond to John Paul II's call by organizing trips to World Youth Days
held in Denver, Paris and Toronto. The event has a powerful impact on teens
and young women who make the necessary sacrifices to take part in this great
celebration of faith and unity. They return filled with confidence in their
beliefs and values. Their contact with youth from all continents and with
the Pope gives them a vision that will inspire them to become leaders.
Service project
in the developing world
Over the years, Valrideau has taken part in El Refuerzo, a service project
for Canadian college and university students held during the summer. Through
their involvement with a local educational initiative for rural women in Canete,
Peru, the students have learned invaluable lessons about team-work, accountability,
generosity and selflessness, consumerism and the value of every individual.
The hard work involved in fundraising for their trip made them want to take
advantage of every second of their experience in South America to learn and
then come home and share with others their new vision of life, humanity and
hope.
